Eye of Africa emerged as winner in the Hospitality and Tourism category and then competed for the prestigious overall award against winners in the Manufacturing, Retail, New Entrepreneur, Service Delivery and Other Sectors categories.

African Pegmatite, winner in the manufacturing category, this year shares the overall award with Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate.

"Both companies deserved to win and it was agreed that they would both be named the business of the year for 2011. The fact that no real distinction could be made between the two companies is testament of the incredibly high standard of the competition this year," says Yvonne Müller, chairperson of the Midvaal Chamber of Commerce.

Mark McGovern, project director at Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate, says that it was fantastic to win the Hospitality and Tourism award this year and also then to share the award for the best business overall. "I do believe our commitment and attention to detail on the estate is what distinguishes us as a successful business. In a fast growing Midvaal economy it will be even better to compete against the increasing numbers of entries in years to come," he says.

Clr Nast congratulated Eye of Africa on their award and stated that Midvaal is proud to be home to an estate of this magnitude and beauty. "It is amazing what has been achieved in the last year on the estate and we're looking forward with great anticipation to future growth within the Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate."
